LensHeads film Backfire has picked up yet another award to add to the two awards already on the shelf.
At the Seoul International Youth Film Festival held in July 2010, Backfire was awarded the Artistic Experiment Award by the SIYFF Jury.
Backfire headed a packed program of international short films at this festival, which is the biggest youth film festival in Korea and one of the biggest in Aisa.
So once again, well done LensHeads.
London 2012′s short film competition for young people opened for entries on the 23rd June 2010.
The interactive website where films can be uploaded, viewed and commented on went live at noon on 23 June at www.filmnation.org.uk
Log on to watch and vote for your favourite. Information on the first London 2012 workshops to share skills on making short films is also available.
The first round of Film Nation is now open for young people between the ages of 13 to 25, with prizes available for the film that gets the most votes each month by viewers.
The closing date for the first round of Film Nation: Shorts is 1st October 2010, with a star-studded red-carpet awards ceremony taking place in December 2010.
In 2012 the best films from the 2 year programme will win the chance to be shown in iconic sporting venues during the Games in 2012 as well as at high profile screenings around the country.

Summer Film School for previous LensHeads participants at Bellshill Academy from 26th July 2010 (Filming Dates 9th, 10th, 11th August 2010).
Animation School at the Summerlee Photomedia Studio in Summerlee Heritage Museum every Tuesday and Thursday from 6th July 2010 until 5th August, then 2 recall days 21st August and 18th September and final production days 11th to 15th October 2010 .
17 Week Film School No 1 at Kilsyth Academy every Thursday evening from 26th August 2010 to 16th December 2010.
17 Week Film School No 2 at Airdrie Academy every Tuesday evening from 31st August 2010 to 21st December 2010.
Preparation Night
Please note the preparation evening for LensHead Students has been rearranged for Wednesday 9th June at 7:00pm.
We invite all previous LensHeads from Missing You, Strings Attached, Son and Heir and Curiosities, to come along to The Learning Centre, to meet fellow LensHeads and organise some of the details of the premiere.
Such as who will say a few words to introduce the film you have made!

Come along to this informal Introduction to Film Making day at the Photomedia Studio, Summerlee Museum of Industrial Life, Coatbridge on Sunday 6 of June from 10am-4pm.
You will learn how to set up shots, construct a scene and get perfect sound. And to top it all you’ll get the chance to learn how to put it all together in post-production.
The fully accessible state of the art Photomedia Studio, based within the Ironworks building of Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life in Coatbridge, opened in February after securing external funding, with the assistance of the Friends of Summerlee Museum, to create a new community arts facility.
Introduction to Film Making is suitable for adults over 16 years and costs £15 (all materials included). So come on down and explore the moving image using the latest in advanced technology!

Summerlee Photomedia Studio opened in February 2010 with an introductory programme of weekly classes, school workshops, a children’s film making club and one day workshops for adults in photography and film making.
The new purpose built facility, based within the Ironworks Building of Summerlee, Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, has a traditional photographic darkroom and a multi-purpose studio comprising full photographic studio lighting kit and resources and nine digital photomedia workstations.
This new facility will offer community groups and individuals the opportunity to work in traditional and digital photography, film making and the moving image.

LenHead’s win at the First Light Awards 2010 has made the headlines:-
The 2009 LensHeads film, ‘Backfire” won Best Screenplay at the First Light Movie awards in London.
The awards ceremony was hosted by Dick and Dom in the Odeon Cinema, Leicester Square. The Best Screen play category was sponsored by EON Productions and the award was presented by Sir Ian Kellen.
